CSci 599, Wireless Networks and Mobile Computing.

Objective
This course will take an interdisciplinary approach in covering various topics relevant to wireless communication and mobile computing. The main goal is to make the physical aspects of wireless communication accessible to CS students, while making the issues of higher protocol layers clear to EE students.

The course will require extensive reading (especially research literature), in-class presentations and discussions, and a research project on a relevant topic of the student's choice.

The primary readings will be papers that should be read {\bf before} the class period in which they are covered.
The text (not required) ``Wireless Communications: Principles and Practice'' by T.S. Rappaport supplements the readings on the topics indicated in the class syllabus.}
Class Format:
First 4-6 classes will cover the basic topics and concepts (by instructors), followed by 5-7 classes covering related research topics' state-of-the-art (by students); last 2 classes are dedicated to class project presentations. Note that the last day of class is 08.13.99}
Grading
  1. In-class presentation (30\%)
  2. Final project (60\%)
  3. Class participation (10\%)
